The village of Boreen Point is quiet and friendly with a population of 500 permanent and holiday residents. Things to do
Lake Cootharaba offers a wide range of active and relaxing activities -
Those who like water sports will delight in the safe shallow waters for
sailing boats or boards and kite sailing. The local sailing club has Sunday
races and training sessions through the summer and hosts many competitive
sailing competitions throughout the year including both state and national
sailing events. Lake Cootharaba Sailing Club is also a superb place to relax
with a drink at the end of the sailing weekend.
Canoeing is also very popular when the lake is smooth and calm. Typically this is early morning or at sunset but through the winter months most of the day offers good canoeing conditions. The glassy waters of the everglades in the Cooloola National Park also offer excellent and unique canoeing opportunities with stunning reflections of the trees and ferns on the banks of the Noosa River. Fishing is also popular whether from a tinny, the jetty or the beach.
Bushwalking tracks also abound in the Cooloola National Park and walks to the Cooloola sand patch are well rewarded with tracts of beautiful ferns, banksias and grass trees as well as breathtaking vistas of ocean and hinterland from the top of the sand mass.
For those who enjoy a game of golf Kabi organic golf course is only 10
minutes away. It’s also a great place to enjoy a country lunch.
